The Grand Canyon

A River Runs Through It

There were twenty of us in the evening of May 29, 2007, that gathered on the lawn beside the pool at Quality Inn in Page, Arizona. At 6:30, pretty sharp, Leslie Diamond called the meeting to order. And order there was!

With one exception, we were all Americans and as such as different as only people of this great nation can be. We had but one thing in common; we wanted to spend the next ten days in an 18’ rubber raft floating, rowing, and white watering down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.

Maybe that not all or any of us had seen the reality of this until now: cleaning up in muddy river water of less than 50°F, sleeping in the sand on a beach, having a “Grover” for “solid restroom facility”. Neither had all or any of us ever before experienced the friendship and camaraderie that over ten days grows out of the Grand Canyon – Colorado River experience. Neither could we imagine the hard work, skills and expert knowledge of nature and life that was displayed by the crew.

We shall never forget Leslie and Keith, Clint, Chris, Stacie and Brad, Bean and Matt, Jeff, Matt and last but surely not least Dani.

This site and its galleries is to you, to the Grand Canyon, to the river that runs through it and to an experience of a life time.

No matter who you are, going into this venture, you will come out of it with a new view on your own importance in size and time on planet Earth and Universe.
